Home Sweet Home

We are FINALLY all home, all well, and *sort of* all handling jet lag! This time around we knew how to combat it, so it's taken not such a long time to recover. It's brutal anyway you look at it, but I think we're on the upswing.

The trip home was L.O.N.G and exhausting. 31 hours straight of travel, 20 of that in an airplane with a 1 and a 4 year old....you can probably get the picture. The kids did awesome all things considered and were troopers from start to finish. Annalyse slept 8 hours on the long flight and Asher about 6. Once we arrived in ATL, I was delirious :) We had to clear customs and immigration, which was a pain!! I swear that it was 90 degrees in the ATL airport and we had to sit in a small room and wait for them to call us up. Last time we cleared in Chicago and were literally running to catch our flight, but this time we were able to clear and get something to eat before our last leg to Memphis.

Once we got there, we had my mom, Jay's parents, his sister and her family, and THE GIRLS! Everyone was thrilled and they talked all the way back to Jay's parents, non-stop! We stayed in Oxford and had Christmas with Jay's family and my mom, then headed back home Saturday. Asher did great in the carseat! Answered prayer!

When we got here, our sweet friends had prepared our home for Asher's arrival. The Harris family stocked our groceries and had dinner cooked, The Russells decorated and printed pictures of Asher all over our house, and then the Evans brought over gifts for him. It was a perfect evening that I will never forget. We may not have family close by, but God certainly has blessed us with people who feel as close as you can get to it.

James 1:17
"Every good thing given, and every perfect gift is from above.."

He is just too cute for words as are all of your blessings!!! Enjoy this Christmas. I know it will be much sweeter than the one where you were so close to having Ashley home but were still so far away! Would you have thought back then just 2 years later you'd have your little guy home?!
