WOW what an amazing day!!! Talk about prayers.being.answered.
We left to get the babies from the hotel around 1:45. Once we arrived it was soooo crowded, as there were dozens of families there and LOTS of babies and kids! We were told that they were here and they would call us out by families. About 10 seconds later, they said ours and the Lutz family names, (Issac's parents!!) and they brought out the boys in matching outfits!!! Asher never cried once. He just looked around and was so calm. We found a small place in the corner to look him over, and realized he is sooooo tiny! His bump on his head is so small and his hands and feet are just as we expected them to be. I'm not kidding when I say he MIGHT weigh about 15 or 16 lbs at 23 months old. Which of course means, just like with Ashley, almost nothing I brought him fits!! Tonight he wore a 12 m long sleeve onsie that just about hung on him. The size 4 diapers I brought come up to his armpits :) We're folding them down tonight but will go shopping tomorrow!
*note to Julie H...thinking a sz 2!*
He's also never had solid food. Pretty common for an orphanage baby. He's taking bottles 5 times a day and we're going to see if he'll eat baby food tomorrow. We have him some Gerber puffs and he played with them like toys. He acted like he didn't have a clue what to do with them. We'll get there!! He can walk! He is very unsteady, takes about 5 steps and falls on his rear! To me, developmentally he appears to be about 12 months old, give or take. He toddles like he's just learned how to walk (sure that's true.)
We hung around while daddy did some paperwork then headed back to the hotel. He fell asleep sucking his thumb with his head on my chest on the way. *melt* Once here, he was all smiles!! We even got a few laughs! He loves to throw things off the bed and watch Annalyse get them....thinks it's hilarious! Speaking of, Ms. Annalsye can't keep her hands off him (surprise!) and the only time he's whimpered is when she's literally dragging him across the floor :) Don't blame the kid, but he might as well get used to it!
I put some PJ's on him and he had a bottle. We skyped the girls and said a quick hello to the Russell's on the computer, then he just played on the bed for awhile. About an hour ago, we turned off the lights and he babbled in the crib for about 15 minutes then curled up and went to sleep!!!
I cannot imagine a more perfect day. God just showed up BIG time. I am fully aware that tomorrow he may fall apart and cry all day, but that's OK! Tonight we go to bed in awe.
Humbled doesn't even begin to describe it.
"Now to HIM who is ABLE to do far more abundantly than we could ever ask or imagine....TO HIM BE THE GLORY!!" Ephesians 3:20
Oh WOW!!! He is tiny!! My Annie is about 14-15 lbs at 5 months and SHE'S tiny for her age!!! My guess would be you need to be shopping for 6 month clothes and diapers size 2. Annie JUST started wearing size 2, and they are still big on her. :)
ReplyDeleteNow you get some sleep Girl! I'm praying everyone sleeps well and that tomorrow is another blessed day!!
Hugs!
My sweet lil Asher..you are just about the cutest boy I've ever seen! Nammy and Avery prayed for you last night that you would not cry when you saw you're Mommy and Daddy! And you didn't! God prepared your little heart and you just KNEW you were with your family who loves you VERY MUCH. Can't wait to kiss those cute little dimpled cheeks!

The pics pretty much melt me, Emily. Asher is so precious. He seems so at ease with you. Love watching God work in your family. Can't wait to watch him bloom over the next few days.
