Often times I hear people comment to me, "I've always wanted to adopt BUT...."
BUT it costs $25,000.00.
BUT we would need a bigger house.
BUT my husband would never go for it.
BUT we can barely afford to take the three we have to Disney World. (don't get me going)
I don't believe that adoption is a calling for everyone....but I do believe it's a calling for MANY more than actually adopt. Somewhere between the Lord's calling and the world's voice, families say no. I read this quote this morning about obedience. Because, ultimately, we are called to be obedient to what the Lord is asking of us.
If Jesus ever commanded us to do something that He was unable to equip us to accomplish, He would be a liar. And if we make our own inability a stumbling block or an excuse not to be obedient, it means that we are telling God that there is something which He has not yet taken into account. Every element of our own self-reliance must be put to death by the power of God. The moment we recognize our complete weakness and our dependence upon Him will be the very moment that the Spirit of God will exhibit His power. ~ Oswald Chambers
God is not a liar. I believe that with every fiber of my being. He has taken into account that we do not have the money for this adoption. He has taken into account that our home is filling up fast and last time I checked, there wasn't a construction man adding on a bedroom. He has taken into account all the days that I feel totally overwhelmed with the 4 I already have.
And He is sufficient. He will exhibit His power.
And I cannot WAIT :)
My husband said "When I stand before Jesus and He ask me why I did not do as I was told to help one of His Children? An he said because it would take all our retirement, we would have to take an equity loan out on our house, we would not get to have a vacation for a few years or cause I just do not feel like raising another kid. He did not think Jesus would accept any of theses excuses. Since He is the one who allowed us to have the job, house and so on.. So here we are again and let me tell you this one is harder for me on this level... People arnt as excited about this one. Some kinda look at you like your collecting kids or something. I mean as you see we still follow God and not people but it does make it a bit harder. And my boss is being more of a jerk with this one than the last one and he was a big jerk on the last one. So now i'm gonna get to hear daily" are yall crazy how stupid. In this econmy... GRRR
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I absolutely LOVE this post!!! I saw the title in the sidebar of another blog I follow and had to stop by! Then I got accquainted with you and realized our timelines are VERY similar. We are waiting on PA for a little boy born 2/2009, our HS was approved 4/22, and we sent off our I800A on 4/28! I'm waiting on that fingerprint letter, too. :)
ReplyDeleteAgain, thank you...I needed this today, and God has used your post to drive His point home yet again!!!
